Paul has over 15 years of experience in forensic engineering, specializing in the assessment of metallurgical and mechanical failures. He has directed more than 1,000 investigations—including some of Canada's largest and most technically complex losses—spanning building mechanical systems, industrial equipment, corrosion mechanisms, and material defects. A founding member of the Failure Analysis Society and former president of the ASM International Ontario Chapter, Paul is published in international scientific journals and co-authored research with the National Research Council of Canada. He serves as a sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto and McMaster University, and has successfully presented expert findings at arbitrations, mediations, and in the court of law.
Areas of Competence
- Metallurgical failure analysis — burst pipes, failed fittings and valves, cracked welds and solder joints
- Building mechanical systems — sprinkler head releases, supply line leaks, over- or under-humidification, condensation and coil freeze-ups, boiler and water heater failures
